Highlights
Hope for Baby Dorothy
Bubbly and big-eyed Dorothy is 18months old. Her story begins the day she arrived in the Kitwe Village in April 2010 at the age of 1year 2 months. She came to the Village through the Social Welfare department.
A single orphan, baby Dorothy lost her mother when she was only 6 months old – she was left in the care of her maternal auntie who could not manage to adequately care for her. She was malnourished and always unwell with “bronchitis”. On arrival in the Village, she was handed over to Mother Alice Jenkins who also suffers from bronchitis and it was felt would know how to care for the baby who had a similar problem.
New Village earmarked for Chipata
A fourth village is
earmarked for Chipata. this village will be funded
by SOS UK. The Village will be fully
fledged including a Family Strengthening Programme
and a Medical Center on site. The construction will
also involve the upgrade the neighboring Dam View
Community School by constructing classroom blocks
and equipping the school. Chipata Village will be
home to 180 children and offer support to over 1,000
beneficiaries in the community.
