SOS Children’s Village of Kitwe started its operations in January 2004. The Village is located on the outskirts of Kitwe .

The Village

The village has a capacity of 192,but currently has about 92 children. Recruitment is still in progress. Each house has a mother taking care of the children 24 hours a day.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten classes are available for children preparing for entry into our school.

SOS Herman Gmeiner School

The school which is offering basic school education has classes from Grades 1-9.

Social Centre 

The Social Centre began its operations in October 2004. The centre is involved in the Outreach Programme    that gives  assistance to families who have been affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic as well as the harsh economic climate. The households that are targeted are those headed by children and grandparents. Currently, the Social centre is assisting 310 vulnerable households in the poor communities surrounding the Village.

Medical Centre

The Medical Centre was opened in 2004.It medical provides facilities to our children as well as the families from surrounding communities.
